COLLABORATION
REELL X KARSKIONE
Some people know him from his huge murals in cities all over the world. Others from the colorful smaller works that more and more often find their way into living rooms. Everyone immediately recognizes the style of Roy Valk, better known as Karskione: bright colors, layered textures, and a playful character.
He took his first steps in the graffiti world. As a young boy, he went along with his cousin and acted as the lookout. What started as an exciting nightly adventure grew into a serious international career. The curiosity and spontaneity of those early years are still here today.

In his garden, he converted an old shed into a modern atelier, where he paints by feeling. Here, abstract works are born that sometimes serve as studies for murals, but often also stand as independent art. By mixing acrylic paint with different materials and mediums, surprising patterns, textures, and color blends appear. These shapes, once used only to fill the space between graffiti letters, have now become an important part of his colorful style.

"When you go to a museum, you're never allowed to touch the art. I believe you should touch my art."
- Roy Valk (Karskione)

One special technique Roy uses is double exposure: the abstract underlayer shines through portraits and images, creating surprising, almost organic color combinations. He often lets the paint decide the direction of the work. For him it is about the process: trying, starting again, and knowing when a piece feels right. Sometimes that happens quickly, sometimes it takes longer, but in the end there is always a work that feels alive.
Roy also loves textures. The paint gets a texture on the canvas, the paint itself has a texture, and together they form a new dimension when printed on a T-shirt. For him this physical element is essential, his art should not only be seen but also felt. On a T-shirt, his work takes a new form.
