DOUWE MACARÉ
KEEP IT MOVIN'
Some say his board is glued to his feet. Others simply enjoy the daily dose of “sick marathon lines”. Everyone is stoked about the skate sessions our Global team rider and Skate Pro Douwe Macaré shares on social media almost daily. Following his motto, “Consistency over intensity”, the Dutch skater practices daily to keep his performance steady and growing.

SKATEBOARDING AS PROFESSION
Douwe started skating at 11 and won his first contest two years later. After a couple of more successful contests as a teenager, he realised that he could actually make money with it. Also, his parents and especially his father, a musician, had always encouraged Douwe to live a life of creativity and passion, so he just went full in.

"Choosing your path in life exactly how it feels good for you and not being restrained at all - that’s what Freedom is for me. There is no right or wrong."
- Douwe Macaré
FROM SPRINTS TO MARATHONS
Having decided to become a professional, Douwe’s attitude towards contests became more serious, and his decisions became more calculated. Douwe promotes a conscious way of practising board sports by spreading his love for skateboarding and appreciating the connections to the people he meets along the way. As he puts it, Skatelife is more like a marathon than a sprint, and his career is certainly an impressive example."

IF YOU COULD ONLY DO ONE TRICK FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHICH WOULD IT BE?
Kickflips! They are so versatile, and I probably already do them every day.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SKATE SPOT?
Definitely the Provinciehuis in Arnhem. They recently invested in many improvements to ensure a better skate experience. And the Skatepark in Ghent is sick.
